FINALLY! A decent bolt-on brake upgrade for your Jeep! If you’re like me, even with the factory 29” tires the Jeeps braking performance is dismal at best. When upgrading to 33”+ tires the braking performance gets scary! This is because of a couple different factors, all of which are solved by the Boostwerks kit.
 
Common Problems with the factory Dana 30 Brakes:
  1. Probably the biggest problem is that the caliper sliders allow the caliper to flex nearly 5 degrees under hard braking, which severely limits the amount of clamping force applied to the rotor. Since the lug mounted Wilwood caliper is fixed to the knuckle, it allows the pistons to work more efficiently. 
  2. The late model ball bearing unit bearings will actually flex under load due to the ball bearings limited thrust loading capacity. The Tapered roller bearing is designed to handle these higher loads, and will last longer with larger tires.
  3. A single piston caliper doesn't effectively spread the clamping load across the entire surface of the brake pad like a 4 piston caliper
  4. Not nearly enough clamping force to safely stop a lifted jeep on larger tires.
 
This kit will solve your braking woes, and upgrade to a stronger unit bearing at the same time! The Wilwood lug mount 4 piston calipers in this kit have been chosen carefully to give not only great braking power, but will hold up better to the extreme off-road conditions your jeep is thrown into. We also have an optional Wilwood 6 piston caliper for even more clamping force!
 
Not only is this a big brake kit, but it upgrades your jeep to the stronger and longer lasting Timken tapered roller unit bearings, which are much stronger than the late model ball bearing unit bearings. The kit requires the early '84-'89 model Dana 30 knuckles, which can be found for cheap. However, If all new parts are preferred we can provide brand new knuckles with the kit.
 
The CNC milled caliper bracket is built from 6061 T6 aluminum and then hard anodized for long life good looks. It positions the caliper exactly where it needs to be and is designed to remove any caliper flex under hard braking.
